RE: Strength of concrete by cube testing

It depends on what you are trying to defend.  It is not an issue of achieving higher strengths.  It is possible to get different results (higher) with other methods of curing.  The cure box emersion method was intended to reduce variability (and the standard deviation) for samples, not to maximize strength.  The US Bureau of Reclamation performed a lot of studies many years ago and were able to demonstrate that aspect of concrete curing.

It would be of more interest to assess your standard of deviation from the samples cured with gunny bags versus the samples in the cure box.  I would venture that your variability would be higher with the gunny bag method.

Never the less, it is a good observation.

Dear all,
Me and my group did a study on 'Effect of different types of curing condition on strength of concrete". We got the results as 100% Immersion got the highest strength after 28 days, followed by Sprinkling, followed by curing compound that we used. But the issue is we got the highest result for Curing condition in which we placed the std cubes in the gunny bags inside laboratory(in shed) and got results even higher than 100% immersion. But we are unable to understand how can that be possible ?
So, should be remove that gunny bag analysis or is there any argument available with us to defend it ?

Regards
